How To Rattle The Big Boys
The last few trips down to the ranch, our guides have been having luck with rattling in the big bucks. Nothing is as much fun as banging the antlers and having the big boys coming running in ready to fight. Below are a few tips to help you when rattling works.
1.) Best Time to Rattle- The peak of the rut is a great time. The rut in your area will depend on many factors to include, history, weather, and buck to doe ratio. If the factors are in your favor and the timing is right, nothing beats banging in the big bucks ready to fight.
2.) Don’t Be Shy- When you sit down to rattle with no deer in sight, go for it. Bang and rattle as much and as often as you like. The more you make, the more the boys will want to join.
3.) Best Time of Day- Morning hunts tend to be the best time to rattle. Bang them early and often, but remember, after lunch like us, is a slow time.
4.) Don’t Rattle Blind- The sound of rattling in a blind is much different than in the open. So get outside and let it be natural.
5.) Play the Wind- This is hunting 101, always play the wind.
